Aloha!
Thank you for visiting the Kama'aina Shiatsu & Sports Massage (MAE-3556) website! As our name implies, we offer both Shiatsu and Sports Massage which are two different massage modalities, yet with similarities as well.
Shiatsu is a pressure-point massage technique developed in Japan in which finger pressure is applied to specific points on the body to stimulate meridians or "tsubos" (pathways through which it is thought life energy flows). Shiatsu utilizes a combination of finger, thumb and hand pressure (as well as other parts of the body) and also assisted-stretching techniques, some of which are common to other therapies, such as Physiotherapy, Acupressure, and others. The goal of Shiatsu is to maintain health and wellness by using pressure to reduced stress and fatigue, increased circulation of blood and lymph, reduced blood pressure and muscle stiffness, and increased vitality, stamina, and energy.
Sports Massage is a type of massage geared specifically for the athlete and the relevant muscles and event involved. For athletes who train continuously, the goal is to enhance endurance, lessen the chance of injury and shorten the time needed to recover from an event. Prior to an athletic event, Sports Massage may be used with stretching in order to help athletes to loosen, warm and prepare their muscles so that their performance and endurance might be enhanced. Following an athletic event, Sports Massage may be used to relieve pain, prevent stiffness, and return the muscles back to their normal state. Sports Massage may also be used for both Sports and Occupational injury rehabilitation.
Here at Kam'aaina Shiatsu & Sports Massage, we offer a combination of both Shiatsu and Sports Massage called "Myoshiatsu". The term "Myo" relates to the muscle and together with Shiatsu, we follow the actual pattern of muscle belly, rather than the straight meridians. As you know, we all come in different shapes and sizes and no two bodies are the same.
We also use passive stretching and joint mobilization techniques from Shiatsu and Sports Massage as well as Myofascial Release and Deep Tissue techniques. We also offer Foot Reflexology and Foot Massages.
Our rates are $70 for 60 minutes, $100 for 90 minutes and $130 for 2 hours for the initial visit and offer Repeat Customer discounts thereafter. We accept most major credit and debit cards and we offer Gift Certificates with 24 hour advance notice. Sorry we do not accept Medical Insurance, Workman's Comp or Auto Accident claims. Please call us at 753-7007 for more details and for your appointment.
